Yuraj Singh’s 2nd consecetive century in as many matches helped India to win the 2nd ODI against England by 54 runs at Indore on Monday, 17th November, 2008. India won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 292/9 in 50 overs and all out England on 238 runs.

India started badly with 3 quick wickets on 29/3 but 134 runs 4th wicket partnership between Gambhir and Yuraj, scored 70 runs and 118 runs respectively put them back into the game and a late assault by Yusuf Pathan hit 50 runs off just 29 balls with 2 fours and 4 six.

Yuvraj is in great form in his 2nd back to back hundred 118 runs off 122 balls with 15 fours and 2 sixes continuing from his 1st match of 138 runs. Yuraj also took 4 wickets and was enough to take 2nd man of the match award.

England never in the position to chase down required runs as they lost wickets at regular intervals. 96 runs 2nd wicket and 74 runs 4th wicket partnership made some hope but Yuraj got Flintoff and Pietersen in the same over demolished their chances.

Some of the Facts from Different Websites:

Cricinfo:Few would have expected Yuvraj Singh to improve on a 78-ball 138 but he went one better in Indore, following up his second consecutive century – this time rescuing India from a top-order collapse – by dismissing four of England’s top five batsmen. The contest was effectively ended when he got rid of Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen in the same over, ensuring India won by 54 runs.

Cricbuzz:Yuvraj Singh scored a second successive century and claimed four wickets as India thrashed England by 54 runs in the second one-day international here on Monday. The left-hander, who defied a back injury to hit a match-winning 138 not out in the first game in Rajkot last week, smashed 118 off 122 balls as India piled up 292-9 after a shaky start of 29-3. Yuvraj then broke England’s back with his left-arm spin as the tourists folded for 238 in 47 overs to concede a 2-0 lead in the seven-match series.

Cricnext: Anyone who has seen Yuvraj Singh’s last two one-day innings would ask, “Why is he not in your Test team?” He alone has the answer. When on song he is a picture of poise. A high back lift, the flowing drives, that disdainful pull have earned him references to the Prince of the Caribbean. The entire range of his belligerent stroke-play was on display at Rajkot and then at Indore. The back injury he suffered at Rajkot was only successful at doubling the danger he posed. He wouldn’t run; he’d rather deal in boundaries. His unbeaten 138 needed only 78 balls. His off-field image has grabbed eyeballs and headlines in equal measure, but his batting doesn’t seem to have suffered. He only needed his first international innings, a brutal 84 against Australia, to announce his arrival. He was all of 18. India was to be amazed with what he had to offer in the shorter version, as he scripted many a rearguard act, pulling off the most inconceivable of wins.
