Central defender Leon Barnett has started on the comeback trail after injury. Barnett played the full 90 minutes for the reserves against Chelsea on Monday night after a month on the side-lines following knee surgery. The former Luton Town player has not tasted first-team action since the home reversal by Aston Villa in late September.

Steve Bruce has praised striker Henri Camara for taking his chance and hopes the Senegal international will now build on his first Barclays Premier League goal in almost two years. Camara came off the bench at half-time to score the only goal in Monday’s victory over Everton. “We are playing in the best league in the world against some of the best defenders in my opinion,” said Bruce. “It’s hard to score goals, you have to work for them, so it’s great to see someone come into the team and score like Camara did. “The boy has a good scoring record and he’s a bit of a cult hero here. Let’s hope this has given him a lift and he can be an asset to us.”

Roy Keane is looking to his strikers to fire the club up the Barclays Premier League table. Keane’s men have scored just 12 times in 14 league games this season, conceding 20 and managing just two clean sheets. The Irishman admits he would be more concerned if his side was not creating chances – Djibril Cisse passed up a series of opportunities against the Hammers – but is acutely aware of the pressure a lack of goals is exerting on his defenders. However, he is convinced Cisse’s partnership with Kenwyne Jones will bear fruit. Keane said: “The potential is there on paper, particularly with Kenwyne’s aerial presence and Djibril’s speed behind the back four, you think they could work together, and that would be a big boost for us. If they could contribute at least 15, 20 goals it would be a major boost to us when you consider our leading scorer last year had seven. Djibril has already got five for us but it is up to the rest of the players to plug into it and give them the right service, people like Carlos Edwards coming back into the squad. Any team that has been successful has had people putting the ball in the back of the net, and that’s something we have struggled to do over the last year or two.”

Phil Brown was pleased with the impact Stelios made during the Tigers’ 2-2 draw at Portsmouth last weekend. The Greek midfielder came on as a second half substitute to make his debut for the Club, winning and taking the corner that led to Dean Windass heading home City’s late equaliser. “It was nice for Stelios to make his debut, although it wasn’t so nice for Nick Barmby and Richard Garcia, who were still on the bench when he came on,” said Brown. “But I thought Stelios might just salvage us a point and he did that with the quality of his corner. I know what he is capable of doing when he gets back to full fitness.”

Amdy Faye has set his sights on winning a long-term deal at the Britannia Stadium. Faye initially signed a 12-month deal with the Barclays Premier League new-boys last summer after arriving from Charlton Athletic. The former Portsmouth and Newcastle man has caught the eye in recent weeks after getting a regular run in the side and impressed in the win over Arsenal earlier this month. “I am really enjoying my time at Stoke and I’m happy that they have given me my chance in the Premier League again,” Faye said. “I did well at Portsmouth and Newcastle, but things did not work out for me at Charlton and I can understand why I did not feature very often for Rangers during my spell there. But I believe I am back to my best and that is showing in my recent performances. I am out of contract in the summer and I am keen to sort out my long-term future. I have been made to feel very welcome at Stoke and I am determined to help them fight to stay in the Premier League.”

Laursen said: “Fulham is a vital game. I think we can improve when the pressure is on us as the home team.
